Love

God is Love.

1 John 4:8 (KJV)

***

Love is willing to hang in there for the long haul;
........Love is always ready to do something for someone else;
Love does not begrudge others their success;
........nor flaunt its own.
Love is not arrogant or rude,
........it doesn’t force its own agendas
................and trample others down in the process.
Love does not spit the dummy over every little thing
........or hold grudges and dream of revenge.
Love takes no pleasure in dishonesty, however daring;
........but it is the first to celebrate truth and integrity.
Love holds firm under pressure,
........keeps believing the best of others,
................maintains its hope when all seems lost,
........................and toughs it out, no matter what.

Love is forever!

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (Laughing Bird Paraphrase)

The 10 Types of Love found in the New Testament

Written by David Breed

The New Testament has a lot to say about the subject of love. In fact the Greek language is more expressive than many other languages, this means that a words used in every sentence are very precise to the situation.

Here is a short count down of the ten words I found as I studied on this subject.

10 - Eros - the Hebrew counterpart of this word is Ahavah (HB 0160) - Romantic/Intimate/Physical Love - God is very clear in the Bible that eros love is reserved for marriage. Eros love is to be celebrated and enjoyed as beautiful blessing from God. Proverbs 5:18–19, Hebrews 13:4, 1 Corinthians 7:3 & 5, Ecclesiastes 9:9, Song of Solomon 1:2-4

9 - Philédonos - (GK5369) - Lovers of Pleasure More than God (2 Timothy 3:4) - Dangerous - Wrong Path

8 - Theló - (GK 2309) - A Love and Desire, to be Determined to Hold onto Something with Purpose Whether Good or Bad - Mark 12:38 - A Love of Holding onto their Traditions

7 - Philotheos - (GK 5377) - Lovers of God - 2 Timothy 3:4

6 - Philostorgos - (GK 5387) A Devoted, Tender, Longing Love to Family - Romans 12:10 - Natural & Spiritual Family

5 - Philoteknos - (GL 5388) - Loving Your Children - Titus 2:4

4 - Phileó - (GK 5368) - Friendship Love - Titus 3:15

3 - Philadelphia - (GK 5360) Brotherly love - Hebrews 13:1 - Keeping Love for One Another

2 - Agapoa - (GK 25) verb - To Take Action and Love Others with Your Life - This is the word we know so well in John 3:16. “For God so loved the world.”

1- Agape - (Gk 26) - The Unconditional Love of God - The Highest Form of Love - John 5:42, 13:35, 15:13

Jesus gave us the Love Command

Matthew 22:36-40 (NKJV)

36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”

37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

This is very interesting to see that Jesus says the first commandment is to love God. It only makes sense because he loved us first. All of us deep down in our heart of hearts loves God. If Jesus said we can do this, then we can do this. There is no excuse.

I looked up the word neighbor one time. The word neighbor means anyone standing next to you. So Jesus is showing us that anyone that is standing next to us we need to show the love of God to them. If Jesus said we could do this, then we can do this. There is no excuse.

Jesus would not give us something to do that we cannot do. It is such a joy to love God. And he loves us all so much. How much more should we be loving him every day. Have you love God today? Right now is a good time to love Him.

 We are serious about you.

Contacts us, we want to pray for you.  God has a great things ahead for you.
