EASTER SERVICE - WHAT IS EASTER ? WHO IS EASTER?

OFFERING

Have you been forever changed? What is Easter all about? Do you know Jesus Christ or know what Easter is all about?

Let’s learn little bit today.

The history of Easter goes back over 2000 years ago.

The bible says:

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world that he gave (SENT TO EARTH) his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 (AMP)

16 For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.

This is the true meaning of Easter.

Jesus came and did great miracles that He is still doing today.

Matthew 9:35 (CEB)

35 Jesus traveled among all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, announcing the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness.

By doing these miracles Jesus proved He was The Son of God and He came to earth for us!

John 20:30-31

30 Jesus performed many other miracles that his disciples saw. Those miracles are not written in this book. 31 But these miracles have been written so that you will believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and so that you will have life by believing in him.

Jesus was falsely accused and sentenced to death of a crime He did not commit. The death was a horrible death of being nailed to a wooden cross for you and I. Jesus took our place.

Matthew 27 Death on a Cross For Us

38 Two rebels were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left.

45 From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land. 46 About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).

50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.

51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split 52 and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and[e] went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”

Jesus was now dead BUT he told us He would rise from the dead and He did.

Luke 24 (NIV) Jesus Has Risen

24 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8 Then they remembered his words.

Jesus rose from the dead to concourse death for us - so we would live forever.

Jesus promised He would give us new life.

John 10:9-11 (AMP)

9 I am the Door; anyone who enters through Me will be saved [and will live forever], and will go in and out [freely], and find pasture (spiritual security). 10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].

11 I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His [own] life for the sheep (You & I).

Jesus says He lays His life down for us now and if we lay down our lives for Him now, he will give us a good life here on the earth and eternal life, a life of living forever when we leave this earth.

Acts 2:21

21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Why do I have to do that? Do I have say His name? Yes, you do!

Matthew 10:32-34

32 “Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33 But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.

Romans 10:9
